Project Solar: Affordable Electricity

Jamaica’s electrical system is very unpredictable and expensive to use. Those people who can afford to have service pay for those who just steal it from the system. In simplest terms, solar takes the suns energy and converts it into usable electricity. Its renewable, sustainable and available in Jamaica. Our goal is to alleviate the costly expense of electricity so those funds can be used for other needs like security fencing and sustainable food production. The total cost needed to cover all their electrical needs is approximately $8,500 USD.

Melody House was established in 1979. It is a private, nonprofit organization located outside Montego Bay, Jamaica that provides housing to abandoned and abused girls. The home receives some funding from the government of Jamaica, however, it is mostly supported by charitable donations.
